Live Music in the Hill Country during SXSW

Live music is on the mind in Austin, Texas with SXSW coming up this month.  Festival folks and music junkies alike are rolling into town.  I am so thankful to be located just west of music city.  My husband and I met singing and playing in an americana roots band together so we are right where we belong.  However, we were young and wild and free back then and well, we still are, but now with child.  We have also become less willing to compromise our comfort for the live music experience.  I know we aren’t the only ones!  Whether you live in the country (like us!) and don’t want to brave the city flooded with people, or you live in the city and you want to escape the flood BUT you still want to see some live music, I’ve got some suggestions for YOU.  This month we are going to explore some hill country hangouts where you can eat delicious food, drink tasty beverages, listen to live music …and RELAX.  These live music acts are local and the scene is down right hospitable.

While live music IS HAPPENING in the hill country most weekends in the spring and summer, I believe there is so much room for expanding the music scene here.  Mark my words, Hill Country Hipster will be a part of bringing more live music out here to enjoy in the coming years.

TWISTED X BREWERY

Twisted X is located on HWY 12 headed south out of Dripping Springs toward Wimberely.  Live music is happening here in the spring/ summer every Saturday and Sunday 2-6pm.  The acts are local and typically small.  Some singer/ song writers and lots of covers.  Folks can sip their favorite #hillcountrycrafted brew or sample a flight of 6 beers, engage in a friendly game of Jenga or corn hole,  or just kick back with friends and sing along.  Lazy Dayz food truck is conveniently located in the parking lot serving up delicious tacos and southern fried goodies to compliment your brew.  The vibe is chill and the crowd is mixed.  The view of the rolling hills doesn’t hurt a thing.
